Surface sealants are suitable for sealing engine housings, cylinder bases and gearbox covers, among other things. This is a very high quality anaerobic sealing compound from a large German manufacturer. This sealing compound hardens in the absence of air and is therefore also resistant to high pressures, such as those that can occur at the cylinder base or in the crankcase. It remains permanently elastic and is therefore not quite as resistant, but very resistant to oil and petrol. Another advantage of silicone sealant is that it is extremely heat-resistant (up to approx. 400°) and can therefore also be used to seal exhaust manifold pieces.
